Best Adderall Alternatives | That Actually Work

Curious if there’s any Adderall alternatives that actually work? Are any of these alternatives available over-the-counter? Or do natural Adderall alternatives even work?

In this in-depth guide, we’ll go over all these questions and more.

See, after experimenting with nootropics for awhile, I’ve recently found some fantastic Adderall alternatives that I far prefer to the real deal.

But like many people, I’ll never forget my first dose of Adderall…

While there’s no denying Adderall works from a cognitive perspective, it’s also not healthy over the long-term. My favorite alternative to Adderall is healthy — and offers insane cognitive benefits!

I was failing Accounting 201 during my sophomore year of college as finals week rolled in. I never went to class, didn’t take any notes, and generally only showed up for tests. Every college professors’ dream student.

Luckily, I had a solid 59% before the final. That grade had to be raised to a 70% to keep my eligibility for the basketball team in tact.

In this class, there were two exams and a final. Each exam was worth 25% of the grade, while the final accounted for 50% of the final grade. All I had to do was get a great grade on the final and I could easily get the “C” grade I needed to keep my hoop dreams alive.

I knew my roommate raved about Adderall and kept recommending I try it out when cramming for a test. So I knocked on his door and requested some smart, study drugs. He gave me a smirk and handed over the goods.

One day before my accounting final, I ate some breakfast. Then I downed the time-released Adderall with a cup of coffee. I was nervous. I’d never tried anything like Adderall before, but I was in a jam. I had to pass my class. To make a long story short…

I did pass, and with flying colors! I ended up getting a 96% on my accounting final. Instead of failing, I got a “C+” in accounting.

Hurray drugs!

Now, I’ve since stopped using Adderall. Why? The study drug does wonders when cramming for a test, but the Adderall “hangover” can be nasty. In fact, I found the side effects of it to be quite harsh and not viable over the long-term.

Plus, I found some amazing Adderall alternatives that get the job done from a cognitive enhancement standpoint — which we’ll be discussing below:

P.S: I am not a doctor. This is not medical advice. Never, ever take a pharmaceutical drug or supplement without consulting a medical professional. This article is for entertainment purposes. Please read my full disclaimer too.

What is Adderall?

Other than a potent prescription drug that can be used to improve focus…

What is Adderall?

Well, Adderall is a prescription medication often used to treat attention deficit hyperactivity disorder in young children and adults, along with narcolepsy and a few other sleep-related ailments [1].

However, many individuals, especially college students, take Adderall as a study drug or nootropic. To improve cognitive function and stay focused for hours upon hours.

The drug contains a potent combination of amphetamine salts, which work together to focus the brain and central nervous system.

As Adderall is an amphetamine and stimulant, the stuff is strong and can be “addictive” in some manners.

Should You Stay Away From Adderall?

I’m no doctor.

But I’m certainly of the opinion that you should stay away from Adderall unless medically prescribed the stuff. And even then, you still may want to consider other options. Here’s why:

Adderall is bad for your health.

Sure, some people don’t have any issues taking Adderall on a consistent basis. However, I’ve found that most people find significantly more side effects when ingesting Adderall compared to Modafinil and other nootropics.

Myself included.

This is because Adderall is not only far stronger than many of these products, but it’s also a pharmaceutical-grade stimulant. People call Adderall names like “legal cocaine” for a reason…

Hell, just look at a few of these common side effects of Adderall [2]:

  • Habit forming or addictive
  • Exceptionally high blood pressure
  • Pain when urinating
  • Fast, uneven heartbeats
  • Tremors or twitching muscles
  • Impotence
  • Diarrhea
  • Nausea
  • Fever

Not good things if you ask me. Plus, this list doesn’t even mention the dreaded “hangover” most of us get after a day on Adderall.

I dunno about you, but the next morning after taking Adderall…I’d always have a crushing headache, stomach would be in pain, and a lightheaded feeling was presence. This “hangover-like” feeling was one of the main reasons I stopped taking Adderall too.

Even if I was crazy productive while taking the stuff, I’d be worthless the next day. Which is why I started looking into Adderall alternatives…

What are Nootropics?

Before we dive into this extensive Adderall alternatives list, let’s take a look at what has replaced the pharmaceutical drug for many long-term users.

What’s that?

Nootropics. Or smart drugs. Some even call em’ study drugs.

But whatever you want to call em’ these days, there’s no doubt nootropics offer impressive cognitive enhancement…just like Adderall.

A nootropic is simply a supplement or drug used to enhance cognitive function and improve memory.

Nothing less. Nothing more. Smart drugs user take these products to experience benefits like:

  • 8-12+ hours of intense focus
  • Enhanced overall cognition
  • Improved retention and memory
  • Inability to feel fatigue
  • …And more!

Just like Adderall, these products allow people to focus on work and/or studying for longer than they ever could before. So why not just take Adderall?

Well, that’s what I’m about to talk about right below:

Many nootropics offer the exact same cognitive enhancement that Adderall does — without any of the nasty Adderall side effects, both in the short-term and long-term.

As such, smart drugs are healthier for users and offer similar brain boosting benefits. A win-win if you ask me! In fact, the vast majority of people who switch from Adderall to using nootropics never go back.

So with that in mind, you’ll find some of my favorite alternatives to Adderall below…

Top 7 Adderall Alternatives

The smart drugs below offer similar cognitive effects to Adderall without the harsh side effects. If you’re looking to improve mental cognition, get better grades, or make more money without horrible side effects…

Check out my favorite Adderall alternatives here:

~ Mind Lab Pro

Mind Lab Pro Nootropic

If you’re looking for an amazing, healthy Adderall alternative — then I’d start with Mind Lab Pro.

This stuff is potent and powerful. I was baffled by the insane cognitive boost I got when taking this stuff. Oh, and it’s 110% legal anywhere in the world.

When taking Mind Lab Pro, I usually crush work for 6-8+ hours straight and my mind is exceptionally enhanced.

It’s not Adderall, or even Modafinil. You won’t find 12+ hours of enhanced cognition here or a jittery buzz, but that’s to be expected. Adderall is “legal cocaine” and Modafinil is the king of nootropics for a reason.

But with this over-the-counter nootropic, you’ll find is incredible focus and heightened cognition that’s smooth. This is thanks to the 11 brain boosting Mind Lab Pro ingredients — that come together to:

  • Increase memory retention
  • Boost motivation
  • Improve mood
  • Enhanced energy levels
  • Heighten focus
  • Neuroprotection benefits

These benefits have proven in numerous research studies, like these [3][4].

However, there’s more to love about Mind Lab Pro. In fact, there’s another reason I choose this over-the-counter nootropic for the #1 alternative to Adderall. What’s that?

The CREATIVE benefits.

Mind Lab Pro offers nootropic benefits like enhanced focus and improved memory retention, but this stuff does even more. It’s the perfect smart drug when you want to tap your creative side and come up with new things, projects, and ideas.

Overall, you’ll see enhanced cognition and improved focus, along with an impressive creative boost when using this smart drug. An ideal alternative to ole’ trusty Adderall.

Mind Lab Pro is highly recommended.

~ Modafinil

Get Modafinil here!

I can’t say enough about Modafinil!

This is by far the most powerful smart drug on the market — not named Adderall. For any student or hustler looking to achieve more, Modafinil is sure to help.

Modafinil offers similar cognitive and focus-enhancing benefits like Adderall does, but you won’t have nearly as many side effects. The Modafinil “high” isn’t nearly as strong, either.

Modafinil is far smoother than Adderall, while still offering insane cognitive benefits like [5]:

  • 12+ hours of intense focus
  • Heightened cognition
  • Improved mood
  • Enhanced memory retention
  • Increased drive to get things done
  • Great energy levels

Modafinil is currently the most popular smart drug in the world…

Because Modafinil just works, y’all.

If you’re looking for the strongest Adderall alternative, this is the only smart drug you’ll need. Highly recommended.

I can’t say enough good stuff about this bad boy.

~ Adrafinil

Adrafinil Dosage

Adrafinil is a unique smart drug for a few reasons. First, the nootropic is 100% legal to buy over-the-counter, but you cannot buy it on Amazon.

Plus, Adrafinil offers Modafinil-like effects, as the smart drug converts to Modafinil once inside the body [6]. While this certainly offers impressive cognitive benefits, Adrafinil effects cannot compare to Modafinil or Adderall.

I’d call Adrafinil a “light” version of Modafinil. It works well overall and you’ll find solid cognitive enhancement from the product.

Most users find 6-9+ hours of cognitive enhancement, improved focus, and more with Adrafinil. It’s simply not as potent as Adderall or Modafinil. That’s just not how this stuff operates.

I included Adrafinil on this list of alternatives to Adderall because its a solid nootropic — and it’s quite cheap! You can get Adrafinil for dirt cheap, which makes this smart drug absolutely ideal for anyone on a budget.

~ Armodafinil

Waklert Nootropic

Now, there are many other Adderall alternatives that do the job.  Another great change of pace? Armodafinil.

Armodafinil is exceptionally similar to Modafinil.

Armodafinil is something like Modafinil’s little cousin. The smart drug is eerily similar to Modafinil, but offers a few benefits that Modafinil doesn’t.

First, Armodafinil is ideal for people looking to use nootropics while staying on a normal sleep schedule. While Adderall and Modafinil often have half-lives that last for 12-16+ hours, Armodafinil’s effects often wear off in 9-12+ hours [7]. This means you can take the smart drug in the afternoon and still get some sleep at night.

For a potent and powerful nootropic without many side effects or jittery feeling, Armodafinil is one of the best on the market. I currently take Armodafinil on a consistent basis and rave about this stuff. No side effects, Adderall-like focus, and more!

Highly recommended!

~ Gorilla Mind Rush

I’ve recently become a huge fan of this over-the-counter nootropic for a few specific reasons. The first one?

Gorilla Mind Rush just works!

With this alternative to “Addy” — you’ll find 6-8+ hours of solid cognitive enhancement and focus. You’ll find new ideas just flowing, work gets done, and your mind feels great

This is a solid cognitive enhancer overall and one of my top smart drug choices. However, Gorilla Mind Rush also does one thing better than any other supplement I’ve listed thus far not named, Mind Lab Pro. What’s that?

There’s no “hangover-like” effect with this smart drug. After 8-10+ hours “on” this nootropic, you’ll feel 100% normal again — yet completely relaxed. Like you haven’t even taken a smart drug recently. It’s one of the few products I actually take during the day and then go out to socialize in the evening.

Modafinil and Armodafinil usually have some minor side effects after a day using and abusing the mind. Adderall certainly does! But Gorilla Mind Rush doesn’t have any side effects that I’ve noticed.

Plus, this smart drug is cheap and worth the money.

~ Neuro-Peak

If you’re looking for a cheap nootorpic that you can buy on Amazon, then Neuro-Peak fits the bill. Personally, I love to cycle smart drugs and throw in Neuro-Peak at least once a month.

As a “light” Adderall alternative, this is a great smart drug when you need to get 5-7+ hours of highly focused work in. It’s not nearly as strong as Modafinil or Adderall, but it doesn’t need to be.

Plus, Nuero-Peak has nearly 5,000 positive reviews on Amazon! This means the nootropic actually works incredibly well.

You won’t find a better nootropic for the price!

~ Alpha Brain

Now, Modafinil and Armodafinil are pharmaceutical drugs — like Adderall is. While they certainly don’t have similar side effects like Adderall, you still technically need a prescription to possess them.

Alpha Brain is available on Amazon. In my personal opinion, Alpha Brain is the best Adderall alternative you can buy on Amazon, although it is more expensive than Neuro-Peak.

Alpha Brain is potent and powerful enough.

You’ll feel energized and focused after taking the smart drug for 5-8+ hours. While the positive effects of Alpha Brain aren’t as strong as Adderall or Modafinil, there are other benefits.

Overall, this is a solid alternative nootropic for many users.
